About me

I am a proud graduate of:

UCLA | Class of 2007

LMU | Class of 2010

Thank you for visiting!

I hope you can find something in my blog that is helpful to you and your students. I love sharing ideas, creating resources, and collaborating. I will try my best to share resources, ideas that work or flop, and reflections on my experiences as a middle school English teacher.

The beginning of my teaching career

I started teaching in 2010 at a middle school in East Los Angeles, before Google Classroom was around and just as 1:1 tech started entering every classroom. To say that my teaching has evolved within the last eight years, would be an understatement!

I love technology and try my best to keep up with as many resources as possible to engage my students. I hope to share what I find the most useful through my posts and look forward to keep learning from other teachers as well in the process.

What I teach

I am a 7th and 8th grade English teacher in southern California. I've taken on many roles at my school and love doing so.

I am currently an ELA 7-8 teacher, ELD teacher for newcomers, and Honors program coordinator.

Why I teach

I was inspired to become a teacher by three amazing high school English teachers who took an interest in my education beyond the classroom. Teachers who came to my house to speak to my parents about my potential as a first generation college student. Teachers who took their personal time to help me fundraise for summer programs. Teachers who drove me to my future college campus to introduce me to people they knew and gave me a personal tour. Teachers who dedicated many hours to me after school through extracurricular activities such as Junior Statesmen of America (JSA) and Journalism. I could go on and on! Needless to say that without them I would have been lost in the shuffle, but together they made all the difference!

Now as a teacher myself, I know how much the extra time outside the classroom will impact some of my students. It's my responsibility to pay it forward!

My core teaching beliefs to engage students 🙂

I look forward to sharing with you, and thank you for taking the time to read. 🙂

with gratitude,
